+ an intact copy of my old website arrived in the mail on friday from the web designer guy. it's a simple site, something he wanted to noodle around with to get back to designing again. i should be uploading something in the next week, i think.
+ i went searching for my inner monk on friday night, and only ended up running into some coworker friends and replacing my old phone. my new phone has a little navigating service and i can check my email on it. me <-- climbing up the tech ladder.
+ saturday morning, i walked over to
yeloson's house for some last-minute acupressure, where the blue scholars were on the radio, and he found some interesting stress in my shoulders and loosened up bags of lactic acid in my thighs. dood, i had no idea the tendons in your legs could harden up like the ones in my neck when i'm stressed out.
+ i proceeded to shove every imaginable amount of healthy food into my stomach as possible. we've had an enormous heat wave in the bay area over the last week and it's been an uphill battle trying to stay on top of water consumption. i crammed oat bran, a spirulina/banana smoothie, water, a designer lox bagel, udon, fish broth, beet/celery/carrot juice, more water, emergen-C, and some more water into my belly.
+ the bout was hard-fought. we lost 66-34. it was so close for a good ten minutes. there was a giant windigo cheering section which was altogether fabulous. i felt good and awake the whole time. about an hour before it started, i got text from halfway across the country that became my mantra for the evening: don't think... just do... and kick ass. i'm really proud of my team, i'm so happy to be skating with them.
+ i missed the wonderful bay-to-breakers on sunday because i had too much of a rockstar evening saturday night after the bout. i was one of the b.a.d. girls that had escorted some of the elite runners to a press conference on friday. the woman, lineth chepkuru, who passed the finish line first, sat next to me, as the p.r. guy was prepping us on what to expect. she's a tiny thing! one of the american runners, joe, had told us that he expected the morroccan guy in the background of this photo to win. but, john held tight on to the title. i rooted for you, joe!
+ i got to have a rockstar brunch with a former rockstar on sunday morning, followed by a lovely trot around lake merritt wherein we stumbled upon oaklandish's salsa by the lake. we were both a touch cracked out but became entranced by the dancers anyway.
+ and now, back to the regularly scheduled program that involves volunteering for just cause oakland, seeing m.i.a. at the concourse, and cleaning like no tomorrow for an extra special out-of-towner staying at my place this weekend.
