A few months back, ESPN did a nice little segment on nouveau roller derby (it's a little dorky, but whatevs). It's gotten a little more rotation recently as they mentioned the National Tournament this past weekend in Portland, OR. My league's All-Stars made it to Nationals for the first time in B.A.D. Girls history, having recently secured 2nd place in the Western Region. It looks like they'll likely be maintaining their #6 spot in the country. It was a really close loss to the Philly Liberty Belles 107-104 in one of the most amazing comeback last-jams ever. The jam started 103-84, and one by one, Philly blockers got sent to the box, and then, in the middle, the jammer went, letting Kitt Turbo have a wide open track for grand slam after grand slam. She sprinted the whole damn track for two minutes straight, and racked up 20 points in the last jam. In case you didn't already know that you were watching some of the top derby players in the country when you come to one of my home bouts, now you know.
For the record, New York's Gotham City Rollergirls scored the #1 spot -- mighty Seattle has fallen.

well, we annihilated them. it was still scary as we didn't know jack shit about them and were going in blind. but, it was a good time. i was beat on a lot by their captain, b-stroyer, who played the pivot against me. actually, i got a good amount of whacks from everyone and my back is feeling it. probably because everyone outsized me... i dunno. anyway, some photos! i hope more are coming.
